This policy explains how Emergency.ug, operated by Oree Studio Africa, handles information needed to provide, secure and improve its emergency-assistance service.
Information used
When available, Emergency.ug processes precise location and location accuracy. A profile may include your name, phone number and saved emergency contacts. An SOS record may include time, location, map link, intended recipients and delivery status.
How information helps
Information is used to show relevant nearby support, create map directions, prepare and record emergency alerts, restore profile details, prevent misuse and maintain the service.
Location access
The app requests high-accuracy location on its main screen and again during an SOS action. Your device controls this permission. Emergency.ug does not use location for advertising and does not intentionally track location while the app is closed.
Alerts and recipients
An SOS alert may include your name, phone number, current location and a map link. It is prepared for saved trusted contacts and available nearby Police entries. Delivery depends on recipient data, network coverage and connected messaging services.
Storage and retention
Profile and contact information may be stored on your device and in cloud systems. SOS records are retained only as reasonably necessary for operation, safety, abuse prevention and legal obligations.
Sharing
Emergency.ug does not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Information may be shared with intended alert recipients, service providers needed to operate the platform, or public authorities where Ugandan law requires it or life and safety need protection.
Data sourcing and protection
Directory information is sourced with our data-sourcing partner, MIDCIL (Mshauri Initiative for Digital & Civic Literacy). Sourcing and use of information follow data protection guidelines and applicable law, including Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act. Only information necessary for providing emergency assistance is collected and retained.
Your choices
You may deny or revoke location access, edit or remove saved information where controls are available, and request access, correction or deletion by emailing info@emergency.ug. Some functions will not work without location or contact information.
Children and updates
The service is not intended for independent use by children without a parent or guardian. This policy may change as the service, law or our practices change.
